Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2026: dates, programme and where to stay near Turin

What is Terra Madre Salone del Gusto?

It is Slow Food's international event devoted to good, clean and fair food: every two years it gathers farmers, fishers, artisans, cooks and activists from all over the world in Turin (more than 700 producers and 180 Presidia expected in 2026). This year's theme is "Biodiversity – Be Diversity", biodiversity in its natural, agricultural, gastronomic and cultural forms, with the Ark of Taste and the Presidia at the centre of the programme.

Unlike the editions held at Parco Dora, 2026 brings the event back to the city's grand squares: you move from one market to the next under the arcades, and the visit blends naturally with Turin itself. Hours are 10am to 8.30pm, with piazza San Carlo open until 11pm from Thursday to Saturday; entry is free, but some activities (Taste Workshops, dinners, talks) must be booked on the official site terramadresalonedelgusto.com.

What to see in one day at Terra Madre?

The producers' market. The heart of the event: stalls of cheese, cured meats, bread, wine and products from Italian and international Slow Food Presidia. Arrive at opening time, when exhibitors still have time to talk.

Conferences and talks. The programme of dialogues on farming, climate and food systems is the most "Terra Madre" part of the event: free, often with translation, usually in the halls around piazza Castello.

Taste Workshops and dinners. Paid and by reservation: they sell out quickly, so book now.

Turin around you. Between one pavilion and the next you have the historic cafés of piazza San Carlo, the Egyptian Museum and the Royal Palace, all a few steps from the route.

How do you get to Terra Madre without a car?

Turin's historic centre is a limited traffic zone and several squares are closed to cars during the event: driving right up to the pavilions is not realistic. The simplest solution for our guests is to leave the car in the B&B's free car park and take GTT bus 30, whose stop is a ten minute walk away, down from the Pino Torinese hill to the centre. Same line back. If you prefer to drive, use the ring car parks and continue by tram.

Where to stay for Terra Madre 2026?

During the event central hotels fill up and prices rise. The alternative is the hill: Paradise – Nature & Wellness in Pino Torinese is a family-run B&B on the ridge between Turin and the Chieri plain, inside the Superga Hill Natural Park. Two independent units: Mansarda Paradise, two bedrooms, an open-plan living area under the beams and a hot tub, sleeping up to eight; The Green Space, ninety square metres at garden level with an equipped kitchen, sleeping up to six, pet friendly. Breakfast and parking are included, vans too.

For Terra Madre visitors it makes extra sense: ten minutes away are the Freisa di Chieri vineyards and the farmhouses of the hill, and the centre is a bus ride away without touching the car. After a day among the stalls, you come back in the evening to the silence of the woods.
